Introduction

TerraTrack is a web application designed for optimizing track line planning based on elevation data and field topography. While track planning is straightforward on flat, rectangular fields, more complex irregularly shaped terrain poses a significant mathematical challenge. TerraTrack addresses this by leveraging elevation maps and computational optimization algorithms to generate efficient, soil-friendly track layouts. This not only ensures compliance with GAEC 5 but also improves field accessibility, operational efficiency, and long-term soil health.

In line with GAEC 5 (Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition) requirements of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which mandates responsible soil management in 13 European member states, TerraTrack assists farmers in planning tillage and track lines perpendicular to slope direction wherever feasible.

By aligning driving tracks as optimally as possible with the landscape's terrain map, TerraTrack helps minimize water-induced erosion — a key concern in soil conservation and sustainable farming.
